Alan B. McMillan, PhD, is a Professor of Clinical Health Sciences within the Department of Radiology and the Department of Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He obtained his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is the Principal Investigator of the Molecular Imaging Technology Research Program (MITRP), where the team’s focus is to integrate advanced modeling, data science, and physics-based approaches to improve MRI and PET imaging techniques.
Dr. McMillan currently serves as the Associate Section Chief of the Imaging Sciences Section and Technical Director of PET/MR within the Department of Radiology. He is a Co-Director of the Pilot Grants program within the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.
Outside of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. McMillan serves on the editorial board for the journal Radiology as a Deputy Editor. He is also a charter member of the Neuro Informatics, Computational and Data Analysis (NICD) study section for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In 2023, Dr. McMillan was named a Distinguished Investigator by the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research.
